The growth of simulation-based education and assessment has been exponential over the past decade. The ability to develop simulation-based education and assessment programs is a valuable skill for educators at all levels. This course is designed for those just starting out in simulation-based education. Whether you are in a state-of-the-art sim center, doing simulation on a budget or have never participated in simulation before, we will provide you with the skills to successfully execute a simulation session.

The Nuts and Bolts: How to Create the Consummate Sim Case

  • Write a case

The Dos and Don’ts of Debriefing

  • Outline the structure and phases of debriefing
  • Practice a script for debriefing
  • Watch and critique some debriefing encounters

Navigating the Challenges of Simulation for Assessment

  • Watch and assess a simulation encounter
  • Describe pros and cons of various assessment tools
  • Create a simulation-based encounter for evaluation
